Award Criteria : Circular Economy Award Pioneering Practice
This Award is designed for organizations that have developed and implemented initiatives internally in line with the principles of Circular Economy.
1. Leadership
Organization leadership demonstrates its commitment to the Circular Economy. It can be through policy making, setting direction, strategy, adopting principles and concepts of Circular Economy, committing resources, establishing objectives and performance measures, engaging stakeholders, contributing to the UN SDGs.
2. People Competencies and Capabilities
Leaders, managers and others have required competencies and capabilities in the field of Circular Economy. They are actively engaged and made aware of the need, importance, relevance and benefits of Circular Economy. Responsibilities are assigned for the Circular Economy.
3. Pioneering Practice
Organization has developed and implemented an initiative in line with the principles of Circular Economy: to prevent waste and pollution, reduce materials extraction, regenerate nature throughout the full lifecycle, including end-of-life stage. Organization has reviewed and updated policies, processes to align with the Practice and to integrate it into routine operations. Organization shares the Pioneering Practice with key stakeholders to inspire them to adopt principles, practices and models of Circularity.
4. Measurement and Impact
Implemented practice clearly demonstrates tangible and intangible results and impact such as minimized material extraction, greenhouse gas emissions, waste, increased reuse of materials, energy, water efficiencies, recycling. Organization has these and/or other measurements pertaining to the Pioneering Practice and its environmental impact. Performance trend is positive minimum over the last 1-2 years.
5. Learned Lessons, Improvements and Future Plans
Organization learns and improves while implementing the Pioneering Practice. Future plans are developed for implementing the Practice in other areas or developing other approaches for accelerating Circular Economy.
